Gold by Michael H

Gold by Michael H is a well-known Irish label, widely available throughout the UK. The Gold collection is reknowned for it's well-tailored designs which give a great fit.

As you can see from the red ensemble, this collection can be quite relaxed, which is perfect for a more casual or daytime wedding. Plus, I could imagine wearing these outfits again, whether as separates or together. I really like the lime jacket in the first image-the sleeve is so pretty!

Gloria Estelles

Gloria Estelles is a high-end Spanish collection specialising in beautifully made, elegant outfits.

These coats caught my eye, particularly for an Autumn or Winter wedding. They are so simple, and so sophisticated, and I particularly love the slightly raised open neck. I'd love to see more of the dresses/skirts? worn underneath.

It's really important to feel comfortable on the day, and I think that with one of these coats, you'd still have freedom to move about, arrange flowers, sort out seating plans, etc etc!

Condici

Here we have some classic MOB looks from Condici (modelled, as ever, by girls young enough to be my daughters!!)

Condici specialises in elegant occasion wear and matching hats. The collection always contains long and short dresses with matching jackets and/or coats, as well as skirt suits with matching bodices and jackets. The fabrics are usually luxurious silks in a wide range of colours and crêpes in pastels and bright colours.

Yes! I really like the quirkiness of this outfit. Although I think the hat is a bit too much and I would lose the corsage! The shorter jacket makes this perfect for a petite MOB/G

This is so classic, but many mums are wary of wearing black. I thought I would at first, but in the end, I went for colour.

I've kept the colour swatch in the bottom of this picture, so you can see that there is quite an array to choose from. I like the powder blue, but remember to go with what suits you, rather than what others say you should be wearing - you have to be comfortable. Great hat!

Ladies, please be wary of this colour, since it can make mature skin look a little washed out! Again, you can see the colour swatch at the bottom of the picture, and I really like the stronger shades. This is a very simple, and elegant outfit, and sure to be useful again.

When Should I Buy?

So, let's begin, quite rightly at the beginning and the very first question every mother of the bride or groom asks herself.

When should I get my outfit?

This question has the potential to throw you off right at the very beginning, so my advice is... don't let it! (unless the wedding is in about 2 week's time, in which case, you really should get started!)

First things first, let your daughter choose her dress. By this time, the bride will have worked out the style of the wedding and the colour scheme, which will really help you when choosing your own outfit.

If it's a summer wedding, remember that summer stock will usually be in the shops from the end of January. And if it's a winter wedding, you will usually find winter stock in the shops from August.

That said, it is perfectly possible to start trying on even in the 'wrong' season, since shapes don't change season to season, only colour. Also, many shops now stock lighter colours in winter and darker in summer, alongside traditional colours for the season, making it even easier for you to find an outfit.

The Journey Begins

I can't believe that both my daughters are married! Where does the time go? My girls married almost 1 year apart which gave me just enough time to help Gemma before Annie decided to give it a go!

Gemma married Matt in our village church on a sunny July day in 2007 and Annie, blazing her own trail as ever, married Paul at a destination wedding on a beautiful beach last April!

I learnt so much from these 2 different (and equally wonderful) weddings, that I started to share the information with my friends ... everything from where to start looking for an outfit to losing weight for and staying calm on the day itself!

This blog is about sharing that information. There are so many great resources around and so many wonderful Mothers out there looking for and offering information, that I thought this would be a good way to share it all. So please get involved and add your comments. Think of me as the conversation starter...
